Technology is advancing faster
now than it ever has before in the history of mankind, and it is continuing to
get exponentially faster. As a side effect, it is my personal belief that
people have not had the opportunity to properly adjust to groundbreaking
technologies, like the internet and social media. As we are now, I think that
our relationship with technology is astronomically helpful and has become a necessity,
but I also think that this lack of human adaptation is harmful. But it is also
my belief that we are living in a very special junction in human history, where
our youth are growing up in a world that has been heavily integrated with
technology while the older generations that grew up without this technology
have the difficult task of monitoring and regulating these technologies when
they do not have as much of an in depth understanding of it as the youth. And
to me, that is where the problem lies, because this gap is a opportunity that
many people can take advantage of to prey on others while our current
generation of leaders are failing to recognize the issues this gap presents,
and failing to properly safeguard the people using these new technologies. But
it is also my belief that when it is time for the youth to take over positions
of leadership within our country, they will be able to recognize and close this
gap, better regulate new technologies, and create a healthy relationship between humans and technology.
